Exmor CMOS Sensor is a Sony exclusive and incorporates on-chip Analogue
to Digital conversion, which minimises image degradation that occurs during
analogue processing. The sensor delivers outstanding images with reduced
noise, especially when shooting in high ISO setting. The rapid throughput of
Exmor CMOS Sensor combined with the super-fast processing of BIONZ
creates new shooting possibilities, enabling stunning image quality in addition to
high-speed continuous shooting at 10 frames per second.
Sweep Panorama mode allows the HX1 to take breathtaking panoramic shots
by automatically assembling individual frames shot at high speeds. Users simply
press the shutter button and then pan the camera in the desired direction to
create stunning landscapes and cityscapes, including vertical shots of tall
buildings.
HD Movie 1080p allows the HX1 to capture Full HD movies at 30 fps and
1440 x 1080 pixel resolution. The HX1 employs the high-quality, high-
compression MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 movie format to store up to 70 minutes of
movie action on a single 4 GB Memory Stick. The camera can be connected
via an optional HDMI cable to an HDTV such as BRAVIA for stunning large
screen home movie viewing enjoyment.
10 frames/sec Burst Mode enables quick continuous shooting of up to 10
frames per second at full 9 megapixel resolution, meaning precious moments
will never be missed. Sequences of continuous shots are automatically grouped
to simplify playback. The camera also analyses each group in order to locate
and display the best shot.
G Series Lenses are new to the Cyber-shot range and are a result of the
Konica Minolta expertise and knowledge. G series lenses for Cyber-shot
incorporate ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to reduce chromatic
aberrations, which in turn reduce colour fringing. The lens structure also includes
compound aspheric elements for images that are crisp and sharp, even at high
zoom ratios.
Handheld Twilight mode allows the HX1 to shoot blur-free twilight scenes
without a tripod. This is achieved by superimposing six frames and then
calculating the positions of objects in each frame to create a single optimised
image with noise reduced by approximately 50%. The result is cleaner, sharper
images when compared to twilight shots using only a high ISO setting.
Anti Motion Blur mode works in a similar fashion to Handheld Twilight by
creating one optimised image from six superimposed frames. By using this
mode with a high ISO setting in dimly lit environments, users can capture crisp
Images not only with 50% less noise but with less blur if the subject is moving.
